Using Short Reports to Build Your List
Written by infomarketer on July 29th, 2009
Using short reports is an awesome way to get information out about your products or services without having to painstakingly write a full e-book. When I say a short report, I mean it. 8 to 12 pages are all you need. Writing reports is easier than you might think.
Whatever it is you are offering, simply write the report detailing the information and offer it as a freebie on your website. People love to get free stuff, so offering these freebies is a way to really build your list.
Make sure your report contains valuable information because those who read your report are much more likely to consider buying from you if you give them solid content in your free report. If you fill your report with a bunch of fluff then you will turn your readers off and you won’t make any sales either. You will also have a very hard time keeping your subscribers on the list.
The best way to offer your reports is to use opt-in pages where those who are interested can sign up to receive the report. In turn, they give you their name and email address and become a member of your mailing list. Most people won’t mind leaving their name and email address, since they are getting a valuable free report.
Once you have built your list up, you can create a series of email marketing campaigns. The list created from people signing up for your free report is now a way for you to make money. If they were interested enough to sign up for your report then they will probably have some interest in your other offers too, and they could become your future paying customers.
To keep people on your list, you should mix in freebies with your regular advertisements. You don’t want to just hammer your list with offers for your subscribers to buy stuff. Treat these people very well and it will pay off. Oh, and it’s also a good idea to offer a link in your signature where your subscribers can refer other people to your site. This is a proven way to increase your list.
